"You must live in the present, launch yourself on every wave, find your eternity in each moment. Fools stand on their island of opportunities and look toward another land. There is no other land; there is no other life but this."

Master glassblower and stained glass artist Loren Stump in California has wowed the internet with an extraordinary display of virtuosity. He created a “loaf” of glass, called murrine, out of carefully layered glass rods that, when sliced, reveal a painstakingly detailed work of art in cross-section.

"The most impressive thing about his work is that the resulting image can only be seen in its entirety after the murrini is cut…"

Here’s an awesome group picture of John Powell, Dean Deblois, Jónsi, Bonnie Arnold, and Cressida Cowell at the Abbey Road studios!
Looks like they’re done recording the instruments for HTTYD2’s score!

"

All the people
I thought were made for me,
are not.

All the ones
I thought I’d always keep in touch with,
we fell out.

All the things
that used to hurt,
hurt less.

All the moments
I kept replaying in my head,
have faded.

All the times
I thought I would always be weak,
I toughened up.

All my friends
I fell in love with and admired,
I’ve distanced myself from.

All the things
I hated about myself,
I am learning to love.

And all the ones
I thought I couldn’t live without,
are gone;
yet I am still breathing.

This dude has a sick skill!!

_______

This rock balancing is done by Michael Grab. He is an artist and has killer patience. On his site gravityglue.com, Grab explains:

“The most fundamental element of balancing in a physical sense is finding some kind of ‘tripod’ for the rock to stand on. Every rock is covered in a variety of tiny to large indentations that can act as a tripod for the rock to stand upright, or in most orientations you can think of with other rocks. By paying close attention to the feeling of the rocks, you will start to feel even the smallest clicks as the notches of the rocks in contact are moving over one another. Parallel to the physical element of finding tripods, the most fundamental non-physical element is harder to explain through words. In a nutshell, I am referring to meditation, or finding a zero point or silence within yourself. Some balances can apply significant pressure on your mind and your patience. The challenge is overcoming any doubt that may arise.” Pretty sick, amiright?
